These are books that my children and I both love and know you will too:
1. Who Loves The Little Lamb by Lezlie Evans- This book is number one because it is my favorite, it is one of my children's favorites, and it reminds my children that I will always love them no matter what they do.
2. Animalia by Graeme Base - This book is wonderful. Pages filled with wonderful illustrations jammed packed with coordinated letter items/things covering the pages and tongue tying sentences (think Six slick sailors selling socks). My kids love playing "I spy" with this book and learning the names of new items.
3. Imogene's Antlers by David Small - I grew up loving this book and I am so thrilled that my kids like it today.
4. The Circus Ship by Chris Van Dusen - I discovered the book just this past year after someone else recommended it. It is about a Circus ship crashing and the animals swimming to an island off Maine and what happens to the animals. The rhyming has wonderful flow and it has a fun "eye-catching" game in it.
5. Small Pig by Arnold Lobel - This is such a clever fun story. The farmer's wife cleans the farm and the pig must search for mud, but he ends up in the wrong mud. It delights my young ones and is a great easy reader for my 6 yr old.
6. LMNOPeas by Keith Baker - This one is on some top lists and definitely should be. The pictures are bright and fun with clever little thing happening. It introduces lots of new vocabulary and gets kids thinking about who they are and what they want to be. A MUST!
7. Monster Be Good by Natalie Marshall - I love this one. The colors are bright and eye catching, my 2 year old loves it. It is a good simple manners book, and lets little ones know they are in charge of doing what is good. With a sweet little ending!
9.Animal Opposites- a pop-up book by Petr Horacek - Great illustrations! Fun variety in lift pages and pop ups. It ends with a LARGE pull open. This book is so wonderful for getting kids attention and keeping it.
10. I am a Little Monkey by Francois Crozat - The images are realistic for drawings and the story humanizes the monkeys life. Nothing brilliant to me, but all my little ones have really liked it. My 2 year old LOVES looking through this book and having me read about mother monkey, grandpa, and little monkey getting rocked to sleep. (I am going to try another one of these Little Animal Stories soon and I'll let you know.)
